Panoramic Passion

“You must worship no other gods, but only the LORD, for He is a God who is passionate about His relationship with you.”  Exodus 34:14

Lush and exotic plants tumble over steep inclines and insert unusual beauty to an arid region known more for its sand and heat than for cultivating a myriad of irresistible plant life.  These were the Hanging Gardens of Babylon…..  Yet this garden, some say legendary, was an open show of an intense love a King had for his seemingly homesick wife.   His wife was from another land, the land of Persia.  It was thought that this exquisite commission to captivate her heart for the King would perhaps erase her desire for old sights in her former land.   The king spared nothing in making this garden,  as he had exceptional greenery imported from distant places.

Close your eyes and hear the determination of the laborers, shaping and positioning every stone in its rightful place.  Feel the intensity of the dry heat rolling like waves, sweeping the workers as they dig and introduce foreign root systems to previously dry soil. This plot of land, once an uninspiring scape, now being cultivated, nurtured, watered  in order to bring life and rich abundance from soil to stem.  The diligence of the heart of the King to see to it that his beloved would look out and see the beauty and unhindered glory of what he was making for her.

And so it is with the Lord…   He wants to take us from the old, worldly, unimaginative ways of our former lives and alter the landscape ahead of us to show us the beauty of His passion.  He no longer wants us to be hindered by those old familiar ways that  the enemy suggests  we chase after, when God has created something for us that far surpasses any sight we have ever seen in the “world….”

He urges us, He persuades us with His generous kindness and affection to step out onto the veranda…

It is there that we can see…..

That the King of Glory spared no expense in  bringing us out of that land of darkness and taking us into His kingdom of light.  He longs for us to scan the horizon and taste and see that He is indeed good….and to stand there with our hearts fully trusting Him, letting go of all of the past and entering into this new place He has prepared for us to enjoy.  This landscape that is saturated with His marvelous demonstration of deep affection.

So, do not long for your old life or ungodly things… allow His love to be what sustains you and causes you to turn your back on those former and distant lands of sin. For those cannot and will not satisfy you now.   Breathe in the striking fragrance of what is ahead of you… what He has prepared for you… Set your mind on what is above, not what is beneath….for He is wildly, passionate about His relationship with you.

Those gardens, as grand as they were, were considered to be one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World…..

But you, you are simply a wonder of His world.  Cherished.  Loved.  Redeemed…..and nothing can surpass the splendor of His fiery love for you…

Allow Him to show you a panoramic view from His vantage point.

Yes…Step out onto the veranda… lose yourself forever to the old unfruitful ways of the former  lands that are no longer your home.

For this King you serve is glorious and He is worthy of all of your praise and adoration simply because you are His beloved.

“That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.  But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.”

~ 1 Cor. 2:9-10

“And God has actually given us His Spirit (not the world’s Spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”  vs.12
